Take Note
The church in Corinth had every reason to look mature. They had gifts, insight, and a firsthand connection to the gospel’s power. Yet when Paul wrote to them, their life together told another story. Division had replaced unity. Pride had outpaced love. They had learned the truth of Christ, but not yet the life of Christ.
This message looks at how Paul’s letter calls the church back to its center. He reminds them that identity in Christ comes before activity for Christ. That holiness is not separation from people, but belonging to God in a way that changes how we treat one another. That freedom finds its real purpose in love. And that everything we do in this life finds its meaning in the resurrection that anchors our hope.
Paul doesn’t write theory. He writes to people learning, often painfully, that following Jesus means learning to live differently. A revelation of Christ that never reaches our relationships, our priorities, or our worship isn’t revelation at all, it’s information left untouched.
If you’ve been part of the church for a while and wonder why it sometimes feels more fractured than faithful, this passage offers clarity. The gospel never calls us back to a feeling; it calls us back to a person. Christ Himself becomes both the foundation and the form of our life together.
