Take Note
Obadiah warns Edom, and all nations, that the coming day of the Lord is near. On that day, Jesus will judge and restore justice across the cosmos.
“Then he who sits on the cloud will shine in glory, and all the angels will with him;
and he will judge with authority. His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are many diadems;
and he has a name inscribed that no one knows but himself. He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood,
and the name by which he is called is The Word of God. And the armies of heaven, arrayed in fine linen, white and pure,
were following him on white horses. From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations,
and he will rule them with a rod of iron. He will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty.
On his robe and on his thigh he has a name inscribed, King of kings and Lord of lords.”
– Revelation 19:11 to 16
We don’t often picture Jesus as the ruling judge of the cosmos. We prefer the kind, loving, personable Christ. But God has given all judgment to Jesus (John 5). Christ will right every wrong. He is not just Savior, He is also the deliverer and judge.
“But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem,
and to innumerable angels in festal gathering, and to the assembly of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven,
and to God, the judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous made perfect,
and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel.”
– Hebrews 12:22 to 24
