The Bible tells us that man was made in the image of God. That was the label that God gave to man in the first passages of scripture. Part of what makes sin so awful, is that it takes something that God has labeled as being a representation of him, and it corrupts it. Like the deep fakes available online, which falsely represent the people on whom they were based, as sinners we falsely represented the God upon who we were imaged. Through Christ we are made more and more like that original image, one degree at a time.
