Take Note
Politics runs on fear and hope. We’re told what to fear if the wrong person wins, the wrong law passes, or the wrong movement gains influence. Then we’re told where to place our hope.
Even when the concerns are legitimate, Christians need to ask whether our fear and hope are properly placed.
Scripture calls us to fear God and place our hope in Him. Presidents, parties, elections, and nations all have their place, but none can save us. Jesus died, Jesus rose, and Jesus reigns. Political victories cannot establish those truths, and political losses cannot undo them.
In this devotional reflection, we consider what it means to care seriously about our government and society without allowing politics to control fears and hopes that belong to God.
Scripture: Psalm 146:3; Matthew 10:28; 1 Peter 1:3; 1 Peter 2:17.
