Welcome To Sunday

Visiting a church for the first time can feel a little nerve-wracking. Knowing what to expect can help.

At Cedar Springs, Sunday service starts at 10:00 AM and usually lasts about an hour and a half. You can expect a warm welcome at the door from members of our church family, a shared time of prayer, worship, kids ministry, preaching from Scripture, and space for the Holy Spirit to lead.

What To Expect When You Arrive

When you enter the building, you will be greeted by members of our church family.

The Connect Booth is available in the foyer. Stop by to get updates on upcoming events, ask questions, and pick up a free gift if you are visiting for the first time.

The Brewed Awakenings coffee stand is located on the left side of the foyer, on the north side of the building. All proceeds from the coffee stand support our youth ministry.

Service Start And Prayer

Each Sunday service begins at 10:00 AM with a shared time of prayer led by a member of the church family.

We believe prayer is an important part of gathering together. It helps us turn our attention toward God, prepare our hearts for worship, and enter the service as one church family.

Worship

We believe we have been invited into an amazing relationship with God. We gather to worship the Creator of the universe and to be changed by Him.

We expect the presence of God in our meetings. God’s presence brings hope, healing, joy, and life.

As a Word and faith church, we also make room for the leading of the Holy Spirit during worship. At times, members of the church family may speak with elders about sharing prophetic words, words of knowledge, testimonies, tongues, or other spiritual gifts. If a tongue is shared, the church will pause and wait for an interpretation in accordance with Scripture.

Springs Kids

Springs Kids is a place for children to learn the Bible, understand how it points to Jesus, and encounter God among their peers.

Kids classes, for newborns to 6th grade, are located on the south side of the building, to the right as you enter. During Sunday services, access to the kids’ wing is restricted to parents and serving volunteers.

Each classroom is led by a team of two adults, and a mature teen helper. All of our kids’ teachers undergo a rigorous background check that must be renewed every two years to remain active.

Check-in is available in the lobby on tablets for all ages. Families may also check children in at their classrooms during the pre-teaching break.

Each Sunday, we pray over our kids and send them to classes led by committed volunteers who serve Jesus by serving families. Lessons are fun, approachable, and rooted in seeing the Bible as one big gospel story.

Infants, nursery-aged children, and pre-k/kindergarten children may go straight to their classes before service begins.

Checkout takes place at the classrooms. Parents will need to provide the pickup number assigned to their child for that week.

Preaching

Being instructed, equipped, and encouraged by the Word of God is important to us.

At Cedar Springs, Sunday teaching is reserved for elders who meet the biblical qualifications for spiritual oversight and authoritative instruction in the church (1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9). We believe the church is strengthened when teaching is rooted in Scripture, accountable to qualified leadership, and directed toward the health and faithfulness of the whole church family.

Our preaching is gospel-centered, biblically grounded, and applicable to real life. Teaching often focuses on how Cedar Springs can more faithfully fulfill the Great Commission by preaching the gospel and making disciples in our homes, neighborhoods, workplaces, and schools (Matthew 28:18-20).

After Service

After service, you are welcome to meet people, ask questions at the Connect Booth, and learn more about ministries that meet throughout the week. You’ll find that we tend to be a pretty gregarious lot who love to share our love for Christ and His impact in our lives.
