Take Note
In this teaching from our FAQ series, we ask a simple but important question: How do I disciple and be discipled?
Every one of us is being formed by something. Our habits, fears, friendships, entertainment, and daily choices are all shaping us. But Jesus calls us to something better: “Follow Me.”
Looking at 2 Timothy 2:1–2, we see that discipleship is not just a class, program, or curriculum. It is the whole-life process of following Jesus, becoming like Jesus, and helping others do the same.
This teaching looks at three relationships every disciple needs: someone ahead of you to learn from, someone beside you to walk with, and someone behind you to encourage, invest in, and point to Jesus.
Through examples like Moses and Joshua, David and Jonathan, Paul and Timothy, and Elijah and Elisha, we are reminded that discipleship is received, lived, and passed on. The goal is not that our name would be remembered, but that Jesus Christ would be known for all generations.
