Take Note
Palm Sunday is a moment filled with celebration—but underneath it is deep misunderstanding. In Matthew 21, the crowd shouts “Hosanna” (“Save us now!”), waves palm branches, and welcomes Jesus as King. But they were expecting a different kind of King—one who would overthrow Rome and bring immediate freedom.
Instead, Jesus rides in on a donkey, fulfilling prophecy (Zechariah 9:9), showing that He came not as a conquering warrior, but as a humble Savior.
In this message, we explore what was really happening that day. While the crowd celebrated, Jesus wept (Luke 19:41), seeing their spiritual blindness and the reality that they were close to Him—but not surrendered to Him. They wanted peace, but rejected the Prince of Peace.
We also connect this moment to the bigger story of Scripture. From Genesis 3:15, God promised a Savior who would crush the serpent. Palm Sunday isn’t just a parade—it’s the beginning of the final battle. Jesus rides in not to take a throne, but to go to a cross and defeat sin and death.
The challenge is clear: Do we follow Jesus for who He is—or for what we want Him to do? It’s possible to praise Him publicly while resisting Him personally.
This message invites you to surrender fully, trust Him completely, and receive Jesus not as you expect Him to be—but as He truly is.
The King you didn’t expect… is exactly the King you need.
