Take Note
This message continues our series on sanctification, playfully titled GOODer. The name is more than a lighthearted jab at grammar. It’s a reminder that salvation leads to transformation. In Christ, we are made righteous once and for all, and we are also being made more like him day by day. That’s the double promise of sanctification: positional and progressive.
GOODer means we are already declared good through Jesus’s sacrifice, as Hebrews 10:10 tells us. But it also means we are growing in godliness throughout our lives, as 2 Corinthians 3:18 shows. That growth isn’t always easy, and it doesn’t happen all at once, but it produces something incredible over time: hope, joy, and a deeper assurance of our salvation.
This message explores how sanctification brings joy. Not just in eternity, but here and now. It saves us from the patterns of sin that cause pain and brokenness. It heals wounds—internal and external. It confirms our place in God’s kingdom. And it calls us to help bring others into that same light. Sanctification is God’s work in us, not a heavy burden we carry alone. It’s the path of life, the unfolding of joy, and a glimpse of heaven breaking through into the everyday.
We also consider what the world would look like if sanctification happened globally. If every person woke up tomorrow fully committed to Christ, war would cease, crime would vanish, families would heal, and resources would go toward restoration instead of destruction. Even though we know that day isn’t here yet, our individual pursuit of holiness moves the world one step closer.
Sanctification changes who we are, how we live, and how we see others. It reshapes pessimism into optimism, not because we’re naive, but because we have hope. Hope grounded in God’s promises. Hope that brings real joy, no matter our circumstances.
If you’re wrestling with sin, struggling to heal, or unsure where you stand with God, this message offers clarity. It reminds us that sanctification is not earned, but given. Not a punishment, but a path. Not a solo effort, but a shared journey with Christ at the center.
