In Mark 7, Jesus confronts the Pharisees after they question why his disciples don't follow the traditions that the Pharisees have made Paramount in Jewish culture and synagogue in their time. Jesus convicts them of their willingness to create traditions to give the appearance of righteousness, that fail to obey the commandments of God. Yesterday Pastor Chris gave us a picture of what it meant to be someone who is fully engaged in the pursuit of God, and fully engaged in this world. There is a risk, in the modern church, that we can become a people who are disengaged with culture and the world around us, and as a result falling into the same trap of the Pharisees. We rectify that by being obedient to God and his commandments to be a blessing to the people around us, and to share the good news.
