James 4:14 reminds us, “Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away.”

Our lives are brief. We do not know how many days, years, opportunities, relationships, conversations, or moments we have left. That does not make life meaningless. It makes life precious.

The question is not whether we will spend our lives. We will. The real question is how we will spend them.

Jesus says in Matthew 6:19–21 that we should not store up treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and thieves break in and steal, but instead store up treasures in heaven. “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

In this devotional, we consider two simple but weighty questions:

What is your life worth?

And how are you going to spend it?
