Take Note
In this week’s devotional, we turn to the Gospel of Luke and see Jesus revealed as the compassionate Savior for all people- the fulfillment of God’s promises to Israel and the light to the nations. Luke, a Gentile physician and companion of Paul, writes to show that God’s mercy reaches beyond boundaries of class, race, and reputation.
We’ll look at how Luke connects Jesus to Old Testament prophecies like Isaiah 61:1–2 and Isaiah 49:6, showing that Christ’s mission was always to bring good news to the poor, freedom to the captive, and sight to the blind. Through stories like the Good Samaritan, Zacchaeus, and the widow’s offering, Luke reminds us that the kingdom of God is built on compassion and humility, not status or strength.
As we continue our series, Practices of a Pure Church, we’ll consider what it means to love as Jesus loved, and ask, “Who are your three?” Who are the three people you can reach with the compassion of Christ this week?
Scripture references include Luke 1:3–4, Luke 2:30–32, Luke 4:18–21, Isaiah 61:1–2, Isaiah 49:6, and Luke 10:25–37.
Watch, reflect, and join us as we seek to be a church that loves the way Christ loves.
