Take Note
This week at Cedar Springs Community Church, Chris Brannon opens our new FAQs series with a foundational question: What is a Christian? Looking at Jesus’ words in John 3 and a range of other passages across the New Testament, this message explores how becoming a Christian is not mainly about religious background, moral effort, or outward identity, but about being born again by the Spirit of God.
The sermon centers on three connected realities of the Christian life: believing in the God revealed in Jesus Christ, belonging to the Father and His family, and behaving in the way Jesus taught and demonstrated. This is a message about grace, faith, new life, and the evidence of genuine transformation. It shows that Christians are saved by God’s mercy through faith, brought into His people, and increasingly shaped into a life of love, obedience, humility, and holiness.
Along the way, this teaching draws attention to the difference between merely claiming to know Christ and actually being changed by Him. It points to the beauty of belonging to the body of Christ, loving one another sincerely, and walking in the same way Jesus walked. It also reminds us that eternal life is found in Christ alone, and that the call to believe in Him is urgent, personal, and life-giving.
Whether you are exploring Christianity, returning to foundational truths, or wanting to better explain your faith to someone else, this message offers a clear and biblical starting point.
