Take Note
How much of our relationship with God is focused on where he's taking us, what we're experiencing, or what we hope he'll do for us?
In Exodus 33, Moses makes a remarkable declaration: "If your presence will not go with me, do not bring us up from here" (Exodus 33:15, ESV). Moses understood that the greatest value of the journey was God's presence, regardless of the destination.
Much like marriage, where circumstances, experiences, and outcomes can look dramatically different from one couple to another, the real substance of our relationship with God is found in who we're sharing life with.
In this devotional follow up to Sunday's teaching, Going with God, we consider what it means to value God's presence above his promises and to find satisfaction in knowing him, even when life takes unexpected turns.
Reflection: If the journey ahead didn't turn out the way you hoped, would going with God still be enough?
