Take Note
Is God still good when life is hard? Can we worship Him in the middle of suffering, loss, and uncertainty?
Job is one of the clearest examples of faithfulness through suffering. God held Job up as a model of righteousness, but Satan argued that Job's faithfulness was dependent on his prosperity and comfortable life. When God permitted Job to be tested, Job lost nearly everything. Yet in Job 1:20–22, we see an incredible response. Job tore his robe, fell to the ground, and worshiped. Despite his suffering, Job did not sin by charging God with wrongdoing.
At the end of Job's story, God reminds Job of His absolute power, wisdom, and authority. Job responds with humility: "Behold, I am insignificant; what can I reply to You? I lay my hand on my mouth" (Job 40:4).
David, a man after God's own heart, understood this same truth. As a worshiper and songwriter, he wrote Psalm 23, reminding us that even as we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, we have no reason to fear because God is with us. Even in the presence of our enemies, God prepares a table before us.
The miracle is that God is GOD, sovereign over all creation, and yet through Jesus Christ, we are invited to approach His throne with confidence.
In this message, we explore what it means to trust God's goodness when obedience is difficult, worship Him in the midst of trials, and remember that His presence is greater than our circumstances.
