Take Note
When we truly believe that the Spirit of God lives within us, our prayers begin to change. In this devotional, we look at two powerful examples of praying in the Spirit: Jehoshaphat’s prayer in 2 Chronicles 20:5–12 and the early church’s prayer for boldness in Acts 4:23–31. Both moments show us that when we are in the Spirit, aware of His presence, we stop obsessing over how God will act and focus instead on who He is.
Jehoshaphat faces a massive army and prays, “We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.” The Acts church faces threats for preaching Jesus and prays not for safety, but for courage to keep speaking God’s Word. In both cases, the focus is on God’s character—His power, faithfulness, and purposes—not on crafting the perfect solution.
This devotional connects directly to our Sunday teaching on praying In, With, and By the Spirit:
In the Spirit — Living with constant awareness of God’s presence.
With the Spirit — Aligning our prayers with God’s purposes.
By the Spirit — Trusting God’s help without dictating the outcome.
If you’ve ever struggled with letting go of control in prayer, this video will help you see how Spirit-filled prayer brings peace, boldness, and clarity. It’s not about figuring out every step—it’s about trusting the One who walks with you in every step.
